New Blog

So while catching up on some of the blogs I follow I found this new blog. Pink Horrorshow. With a pension for Animal Skin and amazing chunky heels I have serious closet envy. I loved this post of her neon and cheetah print heels, two elements that I have a magnetism for as well but never though to wear together. And I love this quilted bench in a cake shop that she photographed with all the different buttons.

Next Style Bureau Project

We had to do some draping for my style bureau class to create new volumes that we will then experiment with on photoshop...but here are some of the original drapes that I liked.

New Sweater

So I started a new sweater pattern because I finally finished the crazy houndstooth and fringe pattern! (Pictures to come soon) So here is my new pattern which I am well on my way now because I am currently spending a relaxing study break with my family in Belgium. It started in drawing class when I was doing a one lined contour drawing and though that the face would make a cool pattern so I drew a contour face in photoshop and began to experiment with different designs. The Photoshop face was the base for the pattern that I then put in Illustrator.

T-shirt Redesign

In my advanced sewing class we have been winding down a bit with all the other classes taking over a bit but we are doing T-shirt re-design and these are which I came up with. They were X-large t-shirts that I cut pieces of and re-attached.

New Puma Ads

So there are these awesome Puma advertisements all over Paris with a pair of high tops and the tag line "Pour les Athletes de La Nuit" or translated to "For Athletes of the Night". There is even a bus stop with an actual shoe in the glass. I think that this tag line and whole ad is so clever.

So here is the finished product of the blue dress. I took the sleeves off and inserted them as panels into the skirt giving it a wide A line shape. I also lowered the neckline and armholes a bit.

Tailoring

So along with the deconstruction project we are supposed to do a tailoring project so I took a gorgeous blue dress and took out the elastic and began experimenting with different drapes.

YSL Rive Gauche

To make-up a missed drawing class we went to the YSL exhibition that is going on right now. It was not as extensive as the Madame Grey one but it was fun with lots of brightly colored mannequins and a fabulous gift shop. There were no pictures allowed so I found these images of the display.

Saturday Night Outfit

Not the best picture quality but really like this outfit that I picked out while video chatting with the Beezey B. It is a white skirt from Daffy's that I have had for a good number of years now but always seems to work. A red vintage belt and a polka dotted vintage shirt. The shirt was 1 euro from a vintage shop and is a very 90s looking crop top but very flattering when worn with high-waisted items. The gold earrings are my flea market find from last week and then necklace was given to me from a professor for a jewelry project but it was just too pretty on its own. Paired with black bootie heels and red lips and otherwise simple hair and makeup.

Sorry posting has been slow...I am going to get back into it especially as I start to finish final projects and what not at school. So this is a project for style bureau with the assigned inspiration of inside outside and then each student takes that where ever they feel it leads them. I somehow landed upon Spiral Stair cases. Then you take images of shapes from the runway and play on photoshop and with fabric to create looks that are reminiscent of your inspiration. Playful inspiration like this seems a bit silly but it helps you see things in new ways and new scales especially.

Flea Market Finds

Buttons and earring and pieces of fur! I love Flea Markets here!! I always find good deals on great stuff!!! The pastel fur reminded me of Missoni this Fall and although spring is pretty much upon us I will probably make a scarf next year for my return to the seemingly permanent wintery Syracuse weather.

THis isn't even 1/4 of the pictures taken! SO much too see!
