Manicure Fun

So I painted my nails over spring break and decided to spice it up a bit and did light pink with my ring finger on each hand navy blue with gold sparkles....just for fun!! I normally keep my nails without polish probably because I dress kind of funky but whenever I do paint them I like to do something a little quirky which is usually just an interesting color but I am liking this odd man out nail.

Tie Supplies

While in Antwerp I found a shop to supply me with ties for my headband business! I now have over a hundred ties that I got to handpick from a wide selection!

Cool Window Displays in Antwerp

There was good vintage shopping in Antwerp which of course is my favorite but we had to take a picture of the Dries Von Noten store as he is a Belgian designer who studied in Antwerp. Lovely store front and love the peach colored ombre dress in the window.

Continued Travel Pics Antwerp

Antwerp-ing

Just some scenery pictures from bouncing around in Antwerp for 2 days.

Goodbye Amsterdam

So when leaving Amsterdam at the train station there were more bikes than I had ever seen before and beautiful spring flowers!

So strolling around on Spring Break with two fashion designers means that outfits of passerbys are carefully observed and this guy was dressed so cool we snapped a photo of him in his blue courdoroy pants and awesome jacket and shoes and really just the whole ensemble. We also stumbled upon a great vintage store and although I resisted buying this amazing color blocked cashmere sweater I could not resist snapping a picture of it. The girl in the store was playing a band called Best Coast and I am really liking them.

Boats and Bikes

Amsterdam is full of bikes and boats and trams and Heineken. The Canals and Bikes were a sight to see though. Could not be more different than Paris.

I AMsterdam

So there is a sign at a Museum in Amsterdam that a lot of people take pictures in front of and we did too! Michele got her M picture and Talia sat in the the T and we just hung out and watched people climb the letters.

More!

Netherland Flowers

So some of my lovely blog followers sent me these incredible photos of The Netherlands in May. I happen to be in Amsterdam right now and it is a bit chilly but this inspires me to try and plan a trip back. With a mother that is an avid Gardner and as a designer that loves to use color, as well as stripes these pictures are amazing and I would love to be able to see the real thing.

Another French Brand

Another brand that has caught my eye in advertisements over here is Carven. I love the look of their stuff and have not really seen it in the states. It was started in 1945 as haute couture but actually promoted a "democratic" view of fashion offering accessible luxury. The label was relaunched two years ago. Pictures of from Styl.com of their Fall 2011 runway.

On Spring Break

Will continue to try to post as much as possible. A super trendy store that is new in France and just opened up their first boutique in England is The Kooples. It has menswear and womenswear that is classic and based more off of menswear looks. The advertisements are all couples shot from interesting angles. The company was started by 3 siblings which of course made me like it all the more!

So for felting I planned on incorporating a specific piece of lace that was quite geometric and went along with my technologic and gear theme...but I can not find this specific piece of lace and having already started I had to decide to go in a new direction. I took a piece of lace in the shape of a collar and tried my "swatch" on the dress form and decided that this would make a cute funky shift dress. So I will felt the lace on and add smaller pieces of lace and gear like elements and then some copper metallic stitching to incorporate more of the technologic theme.
